1. Narrative Purpose

The two threads of the story meet in the same sky. Althéa hears the residue live and makes a choice her doctrine never offered: light without fire. Eirhei translates for someone outside the squadron for the first time. The mission ends with the aircraft damaged and, for the first time, continuously seen.

2. Briefing

Hauptmann Lichtträger has offered the Task Force use of the constellation's sensors and its illumination, not its fire. The Task Force has accepted. To keep the constellation's links stable, she must fly her command pass from the north coast at dusk, under escort.

The aircraft has no missiles, one degraded engine and a collapsing cooling margin. The cell assesses that it will treat the constellation's command node as its highest localization threat. It will come for her.

She knows. She asked to fly anyway.

If the player sent Althéa's message in I02, her first line is: "You asked me where it is. Stay close and I will show you." Otherwise: "Escort, maintain your position. I will not repeat it."

3. Objectives

TypeObjective
PrimaryLichtträgerin survives the pass
PrimaryDamage POSTHUMUS while it is illuminated
SecondaryKeep Althéa's Load below critical (Translate)
HiddenDo not let the aircraft complete a cannon pass on the Typhoon

4. Flow

Phase 1: Escort. Formation with the Typhoon. Althéa speaks only to the satellites, naming node groups as they come into uplink. Eirhei's empathy display shows a fifth meter for the first time: Althéa's.

Phase 2: Attack. The aircraft arrives low over the water and discharges at the Typhoon. Althéa's systems degrade; her uplink holds. The discharge window opens. The flight attacks into it.

Phase 3: The voice. As the aircraft closes for a cannon pass on the Typhoon, the open channel carries the fragment Althéa has only heard as a recording:

"Someone is directing the light..."

Althéa's Load spikes and her Typhoon begins to drift off the uplink geometry. The player, as Eirhei, must Translate for her: the Translate command now addresses Althéa directly.

AME: "Lichtträgerin, this is AME. You heard it. I heard it too. Can you show us where it is?" ALTHÉA: "Yes. Watch the sky."

Phase 4: The column. Morgenstern converges at illumination power. A column of white light comes down through the twilight and settles on the sea, then moves, searching, and finds the blue-violet glow of the aircraft's plasma envelope. While illuminated, the aircraft is fully visible to the flight's sensors and its plasma stealth gives no protection. The flight fires in the light.

Phase 5: North. Hit repeatedly, the aircraft breaks north toward the Arctic. The column follows until the constellation's pass ends.

5. Key Radio

ALTHÉA (to the satellites): "Seventeen. Eighteen. Nineteen. Hold." ALTHÉA (after the column settles): "There. It is there. It was always there." ALTHÉA (end of pass, to Eirhei): "AME." (pause) "Thank you."

6. Systems Showcased

SystemHow
Translate on a non-squadron pilotPhase 3
Illumination as a counter to plasma stealthPhase 4
Discharge window against a protected assetPhase 2
Aspect management (the aircraft never shows its seam)Phases 2–4

7. Failure Conditions

  • Lichtträgerin destroyed.
  • Althéa's Load reaches critical and she abandons the uplink before Phase 4 (the column never comes; the mission continues, but the primary damage objective cannot be met, and the mission ends as partial success).

8. Debrief and Circle

The cell reports the aircraft on a northerly track at reduced speed. Yuktobanian Internal Security, acting under Tier 1, disables the transfer equipment at Okchabursk and Glubina that night. Only Pobeda-7 remains. The Task Force decides not to make it look generous. It makes it look abandoned, the way it looked in 2026.

In the circle, Eirhei names what she felt: "Seen." Nobody asks her to explain.

Hans Lichtträger, who listened to the mission on the Task Force relay, asks whether his daughter will speak to him. The cell does not pass the message on yet.
